My name is Markus Naarttijärvi, I'm 30 years old and I live in northern Sweden. This is my photoblog. It has been around since 2006 and has gone through some ups and downs. During a year it was updated daily, then not at all for some time, and now it's back to some sort of irregular updating schedule again.
I started the blog as a way to enjoy photography for the simple fun of it again after working a few years as a photojournalist. Today I'm doctoral student in legal science, so at present it is more of a way to keep shooting when I'm supposed to be writing.
For those who are interested in the technical aspects I used to shoot with a Canon 5D MkII, equipped with either a 17-40 / 4 or a 70-200 / 4 lens. At present though all new pictures are taken with a Panasonic Lumix GF1 equipped with the pancake 30mm 1,7 lens. The older photos on the blog are most likely taken with a trusty old Canon 10d which I no longer own. I do my editing on a Mac using Lightroom and Photoshop.
I go through phases where I like to do a lot of post processing and phases where I like to keep it simple. Lately I've been sticking to what I can do in Lightroom with the raw-files, but don't be surprised if something turns up that looks like it's been through a few laps in Photoshop. As a caveat I should mention that I am somewhat colorblind so feel free to tell me if some colors look weird, I am known for making people green from time to time. I suppose I should stick to black and white, but I find that colors are nice even when I don't know what colors they are.
The site has undergone a few revisions, the version you see today is v. 4.0 if I am not mistaken. Some of the older photos will therefore be smaller in size, whereas they now approach a size which is almost impractical on laptops.
I appreciate all kinds of comments, constructive criticism and good old fashioned insults. If you like you should follow Anyday on Twitter which may give you updates when something is posted.
Enjoy, and thanks for visiting!
